 Edmond Ng

About

Edmond Ng co-founded Axiom Asia in 2006. Edmond is responsible for Axiom’s investments in China, South Korea and regional funds. Prior to co-founding Axiom Asia, Edmond was a Vice President at GIC Special Investments (“GIC SI”). During his 8-year tenure (from 1997 to 2005) there, he gained diverse private equity experience having worked at the company’s offices in Singapore, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Beijing.

Edmond has both fund and direct investment experience and has worked on transactions in Thailand, Indonesia, the United States, the Greater China Region and Australia. In between his departure from GIC SI and the founding of Axiom Asia, Edmond served as Director at Y Beauty, a beauty product and services company based in China, and Kennen Investment Holding, a boutique investment advisory firm based in Hong Kong.

Edmond has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University in New York and a Master of Science in Engineering, Economic Systems and Operations Research from Stanford University.

 Alex Sao Wei Lee

About

Alex Lee joined Axiom Asia in August 2009. Alex currently leads Axiom’s private equity secondary investments across Asia and is also involved in primary fund investments and co‐investments, particularly in Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Axiom, Alex spent six years at global secondaries firm Coller Capital, first in London and later in Singapore.

Alex also worked for Temasek linked companies, first as an engineer with Sembcorp Industries, then as an investment manager with venture capital firm Vertex, where he was active in both direct and fund investments.

Alex has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, a Master of Science in Applied Finance from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD.

 Chris Loh

About

Chris Loh joined Axiom Asia in August 2009. He now leads the firm’s venture capital fund investments throughout Asia and is responsible for all fund investments in India. He also actively participates in co-investments and secondary investments.

Prior to joining Axiom, he had nine years of private equity experience with GIC Special Investments, spending the first two years in the Singapore office and the next seven years in the San Francisco office. Chris led due diligence and investments in venture capital, growth capital, buyout and secondary funds in the U.S. and Asia. He was also involved in four direct investments in high-tech startups — two went public and two were acquired.

Chris worked for seven years as an engineer at DSO National Laboratories, the largest R&D organization in Singapore serving the country’s defense force. He was promoted to Senior Member of Technical Staff and led a team of engineers in the development of secured, wireless communication systems. His research was published in international conferences like Milcom in the U.S.

Chris was awarded the Monbusho Scholarship jointly by the Singapore Government and the Japanese Ministry of Education. He earned a Bachelor of Electronics Engineering degree from the University of Tokyo and completed two master programs (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Business Administration) at the National University of Singapore. Chris is fluent in English, Mandarin and Japanese.

 Marc Lau

About

Marc Lau was part of the founding investment team at Axiom Asia in 2006. Marc is responsible for Axiom’s investments in Japan, South East Asia and Australia. He has 15 years of PE experience in Asia in addition to having operational experience in China.

Prior to Axiom, Marc worked at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (“GIC SI”) in Singapore and San Francisco where he worked on investments in funds as well as companies. After leaving GIC SI in 2004, Marc attended Harvard Business School and worked for Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR) where he was the Deputy General Manager of Jacobs VIE Vehicle Systems, Danaher’s diesel engine brake business in China. Marc led the start-up of the manufacturing plant, managed the transition of a multi-million-dollar product line to China and successfully transitioned the business to a local team he recruited.

Marc was also formerly an Analyst at Lazard Frères in New York and has served as a member of the Resource Panel for the Government Parliamentary Committee for Finance, Trade, and Industry in Singapore since 2011.

Marc attended Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Departmental Honors and Distinction from Stanford University. Marc reads and writes English and Mandarin.

Koon Kiat Poh joined Axiom Asia in 2009 and is primarily responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, deal execution and portfolio management of private equity fund investments in Greater China and India. He is also actively involved in secondaries and coinvestments.

Koon Kiat graduated from Singapore Management University with Summa Cum Laude in both Bachelor of Science (Economics) and Bachelor of Business Management (major in Finance).  Debbi Sutuntivorakoon, CFA

About

Debbi Sutuntivorakoon joined Axiom Asia in 2016. She is responsible for portfolio monitoring, investor communications and Investor Partnership Services. Prior to joining Axiom, Debbi worked at EXS Capital in Hong Kong where she focused on deal execution including investment research, analysis, and investor relations for private equity real estate transactions. Debbi began her career as a financial journalist for Mergermarket covering private equity transactions. She has interviewed CEOs across a wide range of industries on their company’s M&A strategies and has moderated industry-wide events including the Asian Investment Banking and IFLR Asian Private Equity forums.

Debbi graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University with a dual degree in International Relations and Economics and a minor in Chinese. She was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst charter in 2017. She attended Deerfield Academy for high school. She speaks fluent English, Thai, Cantonese and Mandarin.

 Todd Shin

About

Todd Shin joined Axiom Asia in 2017. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing and monitoring funds and co-investments in the Asia Pacific region, with a focus on Korea.

Prior to joining Axiom, Todd was a Manager in the Investment Management division of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance in Seoul, where he was responsible for analyzing private equity and private debt fund managers as well as evaluating direct investment opportunities. Todd began his career as an Associate in the Corporate Finance practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Seoul, and rose to Manager in the Deal Advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago. During his tenure at PwC, he advised global private equity and corporate clients on M&A deals.

Todd graduated from Korea University with a degree in Business Administration. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst charter in 2011. Todd is fluent in English and Korean, and speaks Bahasa Indonesia.

 Wern Chia Chang

About

Wern Chia Chang joined Axiom Asia in 2015. She evaluates primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investment opportunities. Prior to joining Axiom, she worked at Point Hope as an Analyst, focusing on mid-market buyouts in Southeast Asia and Korea.

Wern Chia has a Master of Engineering degree (First Class Honours) in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and has received a few awards including the Chemical Engineering Student Centenary Prize and the Henry Sawistowski Travel Fellowship for Best Research Project.

She was also awarded the ASEAN Scholarship to study A Levels in Singapore. Wern Chia holds an Associateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute and an Associate membership of CPA Australia. She reads and writes English, Mandarin and Malay and speaks several Chinese dialects.

 Qian Rui Low

Qian Rui Low joined Axiom Asia in 2016. She evaluates primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investment opportunities. Prior to joining Axiom, Qian Rui was a Credit Analyst with BNP Paribas, focusing on credit analysis of corporates across Southeast Asia.

 Hui Kuan Ong

Hui Kuan Ong joined Axiom Asia in 2016. She evaluates primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investment opportunities. Prior to joining Axiom, Hui Kuan worked at Pickering Pacific, a Singapore-based mergers and acquisition advisory firm, as an Analyst where she covered mid-market transactions across Southeast Asia and the Greater China region.

Hui Kuan graduated from Tsinghua University, China, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance on the Peking Government Scholarship and has received a few awards including the Tsinghua University Scholarship for Academic Achievements and the Tsinghua University Award for Achievements in Extra Curricular Activities.  Leo Weng

About

Leo Weng joined Axiom Asia in 2020. Prior to joining Axiom, Leo worked in J.P. Morgan as an Equity Research Associate. His responsibilities included producing in-depth thematic reports for the North Asia banking sector, as well as building and maintaining valuation models for companies under his coverage. Prior to this, he worked at Credit Suisse as a Research Associate, assisting his team in covering major financial companies in Taiwan. He was also previously an Investment Banking Analyst in J.P. Morgan covering the Taiwan market.

Leo graduated from London Business School with a Master of Business Administration in Finance with Distinction. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with double majors in Finance and Accounting from National Taiwan University. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Cecilia Liu joined Axiom Asia in 2019. Prior to joining Axiom, Cecilia worked in HSBC Private Bank as an Investment Counsellor Analyst. Her responsibilities included working closely with relationship managers on investment initiatives, assisting in developing and pitching bespoke discretionary mandate proposals and collaborating with internal and external portfolio managers to relay strategic asset allocation views and portfolio positioning to relationship managers.

 Meifang Phua

About

Meifang Phua joined Axiom Asia in 2018. As Finance Manager, she oversees the operations of the Portfolio Monitoring and the Fund Accounting teams. Prior to joining Axiom, Meifang was the Senior Technical Accounting Manager at Augentius Group for three and a half years in their London office where she reviewed fund deliverables and advised on industry related topics and interpretation of companies’ constitution documents. She also trained six operational offices focusing on developments in the various industry bodies. Prior to Augentius, she was with PriceWaterhouseCoopers for six years with two years of managerial experience overseeing a portfolio of clients in various industries.

 Jimmy Toh, CAIA, FRM

Jimmy Toh joined Axiom Asia in 2017. Prior to joining Axiom, Jimmy was an analyst in UOB Asia Investment Partners where he was responsible for quantitative analysis and supported manager research to both the private equity and hedge funds business. He was also in charge of portfolio monitoring and performance analytics for UOB’s private equity investments. Prior to joining UOB AIP, he was a Senior Engineer involved in defense software development and project management with the Defence Science and Technology Agency of Singapore.

Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering (Honours) from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, and a Master of Science in Applied Finance from the Singapore Management University.  Reginald Lim

Reginald Lim joined Axiom Asia in 2018. Prior to joining Axiom, Reginald was a Fund Accountant at SS&C Technologies where he was responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting of funds in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. Prior to SS&C, he was with KPMG for four years, starting in the tax team for two years and then moving to audit where he was in involved in audits relating to PE firms and financial institutions.

Celest Ang joined Axiom Asia in 2019. Cindy Heng joined Axiom Asia in 2017 as an Events & Marketing Executive in the Investor Partnership Services team. She is responsible for the planning and coordination of events and marketing for Axiom Asia. Prior to joining, Cindy worked at Singapore Airlines (SIA) as a corporate services manager overseeing relationship programs for the top tier premium Priority Passenger Service (PPS) Club members. She has planned and executed a number of bespoke client events as part of SIA’s hospitality program.

Todd Shin joined Axiom Asia in 2017. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing and monitoring funds and co-investments in the Asia Pacific region, with a focus on Korea.

Prior to joining Axiom, Todd was a Manager in the Investment Management division of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance in Seoul, where he was responsible for analyzing private equity and private debt fund managers as well as evaluating direct investment opportunities. Todd began his career as an Associate in the Corporate Finance practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Seoul, and rose to Manager in the Deal Advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago. During his tenure at PwC, he advised global private equity and corporate clients on M&A deals.

Todd graduated from Korea University with a degree in Business Administration. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst charter in 2011. Todd is fluent in English and Korean, and speaks Bahasa Indonesia.

 Wern Chia Chang

About

Wern Chia Chang joined Axiom Asia in 2015. She evaluates primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investment opportunities. Prior to joining Axiom, she worked at Point Hope as an Analyst, focusing on mid-market buyouts in Southeast Asia and Korea.

Wern Chia has a Master of Engineering degree (First Class Honours) in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and has received a few awards including the Chemical Engineering Student Centenary Prize and the Henry Sawistowski Travel Fellowship for Best Research Project.

She was also awarded the ASEAN Scholarship to study A Levels in Singapore. Wern Chia holds an Associateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute and an Associate membership of CPA Australia. She reads and writes English, Mandarin and Malay and speaks several Chinese dialects.

 Qian Rui Low

About

Qian Rui Low joined Axiom Asia in 2016. She evaluates primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investment opportunities. Prior to joining Axiom, Qian Rui was a Credit Analyst with BNP Paribas, focusing on credit analysis of corporates across Southeast Asia.

Qian Rui graduated from Singapore Management University with Summa Cum Laude in Bachelor of Business Management, with double majors in Finance and Strategic Management. She reads and writes English, Mandarin and Japanese.

 Hui Kuan Ong

About

Hui Kuan Ong joined Axiom Asia in 2016. She evaluates primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investment opportunities. Prior to joining Axiom, Hui Kuan worked at Pickering Pacific, a Singapore-based mergers and acquisition advisory firm, as an Analyst where she covered mid-market transactions across Southeast Asia and the Greater China region.

Hui Kuan graduated from Tsinghua University, China, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance on the Peking Government Scholarship and has received a few awards including the Tsinghua University Scholarship for Academic Achievements and the Tsinghua University Award for Achievements in Extra Curricular Activities. She reads and writes English, Mandarin and speaks several Chinese dialects.

 Leo Weng

About

Leo Weng joined Axiom Asia in 2020. Prior to joining Axiom, Leo worked in J.P. Morgan as an Equity Research Associate. His responsibilities included producing in-depth thematic reports for the North Asia banking sector, as well as building and maintaining valuation models for companies under his coverage. Prior to this, he worked at Credit Suisse as a Research Associate, assisting his team in covering major financial companies in Taiwan. He was also previously an Investment Banking Analyst in J.P. Morgan covering the Taiwan market.

Leo graduated from London Business School with a Master of Business Administration in Finance with Distinction. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with double majors in Finance and Accounting from National Taiwan University. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Li Lin joined Axiom Asia in 2020. Prior to joining Axiom, Li worked in Credit Suisse as an analyst in the APAC Investment Banking and Capital Markets department in Taiwan and Hong Kong. He was responsible for handling client coverage, deal execution and pitch book preparation, and has worked on a variety of high profile equity and convertible debt deals in the Chinese market.

 Cecilia Liu, CFA

About

Cecilia Liu joined Axiom Asia in 2019. Prior to joining Axiom, Cecilia worked in HSBC Private Bank as an Investment Counsellor Analyst. Her responsibilities included working closely with relationship managers on investment initiatives, assisting in developing and pitching bespoke discretionary mandate proposals and collaborating with internal and external portfolio managers to relay strategic asset allocation views and portfolio positioning to relationship managers.

Cecilia graduated from Nanyang Business School in Nanyang Technological University with a double degree in Accountancy and Business on the Nanyang Scholarship. She reads and writes English and Mandarin, and speaks several Chinese dialects.

Eugene Ho joined Axiom Asia in 2020. Prior to joining Axiom, Eugene worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in HSBC, covering M&A and ECM transactions across Southeast Asia.  Ernest Ong

Ernest Ong joined in Axiom Asia in 2019. Prior to joining Axiom, Ernest worked as an Investment Analyst in Auric Pacific Group, a Singapore-based conglomerate, where he was directly supervised by the deputy CEO and CEO on mid-market M&A deals in the consumer industry. He was responsible for deal origination, due diligence, negotiation and management of M&A deal processes in the Asia Pacific region.

Ernest graduated from Singapore Management University with Summa Cum Laude in Bachelor of Business Management (major in Finance) under the Singapore Management University Scholars’ Programme, and has also received a few awards including the Standard Chartered Best First Year Business Student Award and the OCBC Outstanding Student Award.  Meifang Phua

About

Meifang Phua joined Axiom Asia in 2018. As Finance Manager, she oversees the operations of the Portfolio Monitoring and the Fund Accounting teams. Prior to joining Axiom, Meifang was the Senior Technical Accounting Manager at Augentius Group for three and a half years in their London office where she reviewed fund deliverables and advised on industry related topics and interpretation of companies’ constitution documents. She also trained six operational offices focusing on developments in the various industry bodies. Prior to Augentius, she was with PriceWaterhouseCoopers for six years with two years of managerial experience overseeing a portfolio of clients in various industries.

Meifang holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class Honours) from the Nanyang Technological University’s Nanyang School of Business. Meifang reads and writes English and Mandarin.

 Jimmy Toh, CAIA, FRM

About

Jimmy Toh joined Axiom Asia in 2017. Prior to joining Axiom, Jimmy was an analyst in UOB Asia Investment Partners where he was responsible for quantitative analysis and supported manager research to both the private equity and hedge funds business. He was also in charge of portfolio monitoring and performance analytics for UOB’s private equity investments. Prior to joining UOB AIP, he was a Senior Engineer involved in defense software development and project management with the Defence Science and Technology Agency of Singapore.

Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering (Honours) from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, and a Master of Science in Applied Finance from the Singapore Management University. He is a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) and FRM (Financial Risk Manager) charter holder. Jimmy is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

 Reginald Lim

About

Reginald Lim joined Axiom Asia in 2018. Prior to joining Axiom, Reginald was a Fund Accountant at SS&C Technologies where he was responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting of funds in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. Prior to SS&C, he was with KPMG for four years, starting in the tax team for two years and then moving to audit where he was in involved in audits relating to PE firms and financial institutions.

Reginald has a Bachelor of Social Science (Economics) with Honours from the National University of Singapore. He is also a Chartered Certified Accountant. He is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

 Celest Ang

About

Celest Ang joined Axiom Asia in 2019. Prior to joining Axiom, Celest worked in Partners Group as a Senior Financial Analyst where she tracked and monitored the financial health of investments and performed portfolio analysis on underlying portfolio companies. She also reviewed monthly valuations for direct equity investments, ensuring the accuracy of underlying funds’ net asset values.

 Cindy Heng

Cindy Heng joined Axiom Asia in 2017 as an Events & Marketing Executive in the Investor Partnership Services team. She is responsible for the planning and coordination of events and marketing for Axiom Asia. Prior to joining, Cindy worked at Singapore Airlines (SIA) as a corporate services manager overseeing relationship programs for the top tier premium Priority Passenger Service (PPS) Club members. She has planned and executed a number of bespoke client events as part of SIA’s hospitality program.

Cindy has a Bachelor of Arts (Communication and New Media) from National University of Singapore. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
